Ny ledning på Elekta – Gustaf Salford lämnar sin roll

I ett pressmeddelande från Elekta meddelas att vd och President Gustaf Salford lämnar företaget den 6 mars. Beslutet togs i samförstånd med styrelsen. Salford har varit på Elekta i 16 år och ledde bland annat företaget genom COVID-19-pandemin och drev innovation och marknadsexpansion. Under övergångsperioden, innan en ny vd är på plats,  tar Jonas Bolander, med över 20 års erfarenhet inom företaget, över som tillförordnad vd.

Omstrukturering för ökad lönsamhet och tillväxt

Styrelsens ordförande Dr Laurent (Larry) Leksell kommenterade förändringen:

“Although Elekta’s interim results for Q3 did not meet our expectations, there were positive highlights, for instance, in terms of order growth driven by the roll out of our recent product launches, strong cashflow and good cost control. The Board of Directors is of the opinion, however, that Elekta now needs a new leadership that can further intensify the focus on improving profitability and strengthen growth, by leveraging the most competitive and advanced offering in the industry. This will be fueled by future product and software launches enabled by recent years’ substantial investments in R&D.

I would like to thank Gustaf for everything he has contributed to Elekta during his 16 years at the company. Among other things, he successfully led the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, drove growth in new markets, and accelerated our innovation programs. As we look forward towards our next chapter, we have agreed, however, to go separate ways and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Efter beslutet om att byta ledning följer nu en internationell rekryteringsprocess där styrelsen söker en permanent efterträdare som kan intensifiera fokus på ökad lönsamhet och stärkt tillväxt genom kommande produkt- och mjukvarulanseringar.

Jonas Bolander tar över under övergångsperioden
Med Jonas Bolander som tillförordnad vd ser Elekta fram emot en smidig övergång. Bolander betonade sin tilltro till företagets strategiska riktning:

“After more than 20 years with Elekta, I firmly believe we will continue the successful launches of our new products and deliver on our strategy. I look forward to leading this transition period together with the great team at Elekta.”

Elekta inleder nu en ny fas med ambitionen att stärka sin konkurrenskraft genom ökad lönsamhet och fortsatt innovation. Med en pågående internationell rekryteringsprocess för en permanent VD och Jonas Bolander i spetsen under övergångsperioden, satsar företaget på att fortsätta leverera banbrytande lösningar inom cancerbehandling.
Samtidigt tackar företaget Gustaf Salford för hans insatser under 16 framgångsrika år.
